Take proactive steps to manage your bursary application effectively and ensure financial support towards course specific costs is in place when needed.

Important Updates - 05.01.2026

Application Window

 

  • The 2025/26 bursary application portal is now live and open and we are accepting applications.

    Support can currently only be backdated to the start of this term.

    As we are operating at reduced capacity, learners are expected to:

    • proactively check PayMyStudent for updates on their application, and

    • speak with their Progress Coach if they need support or guidance.

  • January Starters

    Please wait until you have received your Student ID before applying for a bursary.

    Missing Evidence / Incomplete Applications

    • Check the Documents section of PayMyStudent

    • Upload any outstanding evidence as soon as possible

    Completed Application but No Award Yet?

    Ensure all relevant questionnaires are completed, so we know what support you are requesting.

    Not Received Certain Support?

    We can only award support that you request on your application form and only if you meet the eligibility criteria.

    Lost Meal Cards

    Email [email protected].
    If lost during a closure period, contact us as soon as you return to College.

    Hardship Support

    If you are experiencing hardship, please speak with your Progress Coach or Student Mentor for support and guidance.

Login using your Microsoft account

You can login using your college Microsoft account.

Register for an account with Your Student ID

If this is your first time applying online for financial support, please enter your details and create a password. If you have applied previously and your login details no longer work, you will need to re-register.

Helpful Hints:

  • Your Student Number: This can be found at the bottom of your College ID card (e.g., SMI123456789).

  • Missing Activation Link: The activation email will be sent to your University of Derby Unimail account (e.g., [email protected]).
    Please note: This cannot be changed to a personal email address.

  • If you do not receive the activation email, it may be because your enrolment record has not yet been created—even if you were a student with us previously.
    Please email [email protected], and we will manually activate your account within 3–5 working days.
