This Portal is Designed to Help You:

Take proactive steps to manage your bursary application effectively and ensure financial support towards course specific costs is in place when needed.

Important Updates - 03.12.2025

  • Application Window

    • The 2025/26 bursary application portal is now live and open for applications.
      If you need help with applying, you can request an appointment by emailing [email protected]
    • Christmas Closure
    • The Bursary Team and Pay My Student Portal will be closed from Thursday 18 December and will reopen on Monday 5 January. The portal will be undergoing essential maintenance.
      Full details (including payment dates and evidence deadlines) are available in the [email protected] out-of-office message.
    • Bus Pass Support
      Learners with incomplete applications must pay Instalment 1 and Instalment 2 unless an eligible application is submitted. No temporary pass extensions will be issued.
    • 16–19 Bursary Fund
      Funds are running low — please ensure your application and evidence are completed before the Christmas break to avoid delays.
    • External Travel Support
      Submit one week’s worth of receipts or proof of costs per half term. A reminder will be sent each half term. You must maintain 85% attendance to receive support.
    • Kit, Uniform, Books, Counselling & AAT
      Upload proof of purchases directly to the relevant PayMyStudent questionnaire, taking payment/closure dates into account.
      For Hair & Beauty, BFC, and Culinary, contributions may be paid directly to your department.
    • January Starters
      Please wait for your Student ID before applying for a bursary.
    • Childcare
      A separate communication has been sent to learners receiving childcare support.
    • Missing Evidence / Incomplete Applications
      Check the Documents section of PayMyStudent and upload anything still required.Completed but No Award Yet?
      Complete your questionnaires so we know what support you are requesting.
    • Not Received Certain Support?
      We can only award support you request on the application form and only if you are eligible.
    • Drop-Ins
      Wednesdays 3, 10, 17 December – 12:30–1:30pm
      • Thursday 11 December (Derby) – 11am–1:30pm
    • Lost Meal Cards
      Email [email protected].
      If lost during the break, contact us as soon as you return to College.

     

  • Hardship Cases

    • If you are in hardship, please speak with your progress coach or student mentor for support and guidance.

You can login using your college Microsoft account.

Register for an account with Your Student ID

If this is your first time applying online for financial support, please enter your details and create a password. If you have applied previously and your login details no longer work, you will need to re-register.

Helpful Hints:

  • Your Student Number: This can be found at the bottom of your College ID card (e.g., SMI123456789).

  • Missing Activation Link: The activation email will be sent to your University of Derby Unimail account (e.g., [email protected]).
    Please note: This cannot be changed to a personal email address.

  • If you do not receive the activation email, it may be because your enrolment record has not yet been created—even if you were a student with us previously.
    Please email [email protected], and we will manually activate your account within 3–5 working days.
